Keeping up with the slew of roster changes across Counter Strike teams, Team Liquid have officially signed Taco. The roster change was first rumored a few days ago, when The Rush B Podcast account tweeted out something similar.

The information was backed by Nel from Flickshot. He has been a trustworthy source of insider information on Counter Strike teams. He was also one of the first to report about SK Gaming’s bid for S1mple and Flamie, the Na’Vi duo.

TACO – a key member of the Brazilian squad

TACO has been an integral part of the core Brazilian squad. The core roster which made a name for itself after bursting on to the scene under the Kabum organisation moved on to Luminosity Gaming. TACO joined the team soon after and has been a part of the core part of the roster since 2015. During this time they won a Major along with several big tournament wins. They have the following events under their belt:

  • ESL One Cologne Major 2016
  • cs_summit 1 2017
  • IEM Sydney 2017
  • Dreamhack Open Summer 2017
  • ECS Season 3 Finals 2017
  • ESL One Cologne 2017
  • EPICENTER 2017
  • Blast Pro Series Copenhagen 2017
  • ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals 2017

The squad achieved the top position in Counter Strike. They won several big tournaments and were the best team in the scene at the time. Following the infamous NIP, Fnatic era; this was the dawn of the SK era.

However their latest results were not equivalent of a team capable of winning tournaments. They were constantly losing out important playoff match and had been unable to mount a challenge for the win.

It was the Player’s decision

TACO had expressed his willingness to transfer to Team Liquid. The team has been doing somewhat decent and the current roster would work for them. But with Taco being inactive on the roster for the past few weeks, SK Gaming have been actively searching for a fifth player.

Taco has been an integral part of the SK Gaming CS:GO roster for the last two years and it’s always been a real pleasure working with him. He’s a great teammate, player and person to be around thanks to his dedication and bright humour. We’re very proud of everything we’ve accomplished together during his time with us and we’re sad to see him go. However, we respect his wish to do so and have quickly come to terms with the team he chose to continue his career in.

It’s clearly mentioned that it was the player’s decision to leave the organisation. Taco was spotted a few days ago watching a movie with the Team Liquid family. The players under the Liquid organisation had gone for a screening of the movie ‘Ready Player One’.

DoubleLift – Yet another Leak

The roster move was leaked several days ago when Doublelift tweeted a selfie. The image posted on Twitter reveals Taco when we zoom in. TACO was obviously already involved in and inducted into Team Liquid quite a few days before the official announcement.

Tarik replied to the tweet with a zoomed in picture clearly showing TACO sitting in the back. This fueled the roster move rumors and it almost being a clear indication of the announcement.

The North American Organisation finally revealed the addition of the 23 year old rifler to their team. This gives the team several weeks to practice and develop their coordination before their first official LAN event.

TACO will replace Steel

TACO will replace Steel on the Team Liquid Roster. Steel has been a part of Liquid’s roster for quite some time. Their recent success at some of the events makes his departure from the roster very surprising. But it was his decision and the farewell is mutual.

I wasn’t feeling happy because of my individual performances, the way I approached both in and out game in Team Liquid was totally wrong, because of that, I never felt comfortable during my time in TL. I’ve learnt from all this mistakes and it was a great and positive experience for me, no regrets.

Because of this, I have decided to step down from the roster and I would like to thank the organization and my teammates for the awesome time together, and last, thank you all the fans, you guys rock!

TACO on joining Team Liquid:

Being able to join the best American organization with the best American CS:GO team is a big opportunity for me. Those guys are extremely talented and I believe that I have what they need to start winning tournaments. Working again with zews made my decision so easy and I’m sure I chose the right place to be at. I just can’t wait to start practicing, bring my experience and help them with whatever they need to become the top 1 team in the world.

God forgives. TACO doesn’t.

  2. Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski
  3. Keith “NAF” Markovic
  4. Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken
  5. Epitacio “TACO” de Melo
  6. Wilton “zews” Prado (coach)

Team Liquid will play at Dreamhack Marseille 2018 which commences on the 18th of April 2018. Featuring a prize pool of $250,000 it will see 16 teams battling it out for the trophy. It will also be the first tournament for Team Liquid with TACO on their roster.
